Service Description

Kundalini Yoga classes are held weekly Tuesday nights 1900-2030 in Dirleton Kirk Hall. This is a pass for a four week block of set dates. This 4-week block runs Tuesday 22 April, 29 April, 6 May, 13 May. If you aren’t able to make a class in the 4 week block that you have paid for let me know one week in advance and I will issue you a credit for that class. Spring is a wonderful time for cleansing and balancing body, mind and soul: for shedding the winter heaviness and accessing the dormant energies we kept within over the colder months. The practice of Kundalini Yoga works to enhance our physical, mental and spiritual health and well-being through applying some foundational elements of the practice: kriya (movement), breath, sound and meditation. The combination of these elements serves to bring us into a balanced and harmonious state of being. They enhance physical health by clearing the energy channels of the body, oxygenating the blood, purifying the organs, activating the glandular system, reestablishing balance, and removing impurities from the body. Our bodies are constantly under siege from toxins that become a burden on the systems and organs of our bodies. However, we can be proactive and take steps to neutralise and discharge accumulated waste and build up of toxins by supporting the body’s own elimination channels: the bowel, liver, kidney and bladder, skin and mucous membranes, lungs and the lymphatic system. Kundalini Yoga is suitable for all ages and abilities. Whether you can make just one class, or all of the classes, you will get the benefit in each individual class through this powerful practice. Wear loose comfy clothing and bring your own yoga mat, blocks/ cushion, blanket and water. Don’t eat anything too heavy before class (2 hours at least), a light healthy snack is ok. We begin by “tuning in” with a short mantra then some warm up exercises and follow this with a Kriya – a Yoga set of exercises for a specific purpose. This includes stretching postures, movement exercises, breathing exercises and chanting mantras. Mantras may seem strange at first but they are Yoga for the mind, they set up sound vibrations in the body and change mental states. Finally we finish with relaxation and/or meditation. And then we tune out.
